Welcome to Meet Me in the Lobby: a new video series I’m starting with one of my best friends, Annie Fitzsimmons. The concept is pretty straightforward: each episode is filmed from a different hotel lobby, while we talk about anything (anything!) pertaining to travel.
A quick introduction to your hosts:
Annie Fitzsimmons has spent nearly twenty years shaping how we talk about travel: as Urban Insider and Luxury Editor at National Geographic Travel, where she remains a travel expert to this day, at AFAR and Virtuoso, and now as Editor at Large at Embark Beyond. Her first book, 100 Hotels of a Lifetime for National Geographic, has been translated into 17 languages. She's also the founder of Travel AF, has hosted more than 45 group trips around the world, and is one of the most respected thought leaders I know in the travel industry. Beyond her résumé, she's one of my best friends and someone I respect immensely.
And me…Whitney Haldeman. I'm the founder of Atlas Adventures, a global luxury travel company with a team of twenty spanning small-group trips to 40 destinations, bespoke private planning through Blonde Atlas, and a new corporate arm modernizing incentive travel. Like Annie, I'm part of the Embark Beyond family (as a Luxury Travel Advisor), and I write about the deeper side of travel here on Substack.
We’re both Americans who now call London home and we’ve each managed to make travel our entire personality.

For our first episode, we met at the beautiful new Six Senses London. It's wonderfully spacious and chic, with a light, airy ease that feels almost Californian (we kept saying it: are we in LA?). The location is unique, but in a good way. Hyde Park is a short stroll away, some great local dim sum is right around the corner, and you're on Notting Hill's doorstep.
