018. The Season I Didn't See Coming

I got a job. 🎉

Just typing those four words brings tears to my eyes.

God is so, so good.

After thirteen months of uncertainty, unanswered prayers that eventually became answered ones, and more twists and turns than I ever imagined, I can finally say that unemployment is behind me. If you’ve ever found yourself waiting on God while trying to keep hope alive, then you know this victory isn’t just about a paycheck—it’s about faith, perseverance, and witnessing His perfect timing unfold.

First... I owe you an apology.

I’ve been quiet. Too quiet.

I know I’ve neglected Whispers from Afar, and for that, I’m truly sorry. But while it may have seemed like everything was silent, life behind the scenes was anything but. Sometimes our greatest seasons of growth happen in the quiet—the moments when no one is watching, but everything is changing.

Over the past few months, I’ve been pouring my heart into building my brand, creating content that feels authentic to who I am, and learning the ropes at my new job. It’s been a season of stretching, growing, and rediscovering pieces of myself that I didn’t even know were waiting to bloom.

Then something beautiful happened.

This past May, I was invited to join Climate Cultura, a Generation180 program that brings together Latino creators to learn, collaborate, and tell meaningful stories about clean energy and our communities.

What an unforgettable experience.

Imagine a room filled with passionate creatives, each bringing their own stories, cultures, and perspectives to the table. We spent the weekend writing, laughing, brainstorming, challenging one another, and learning from experts who genuinely wanted to invest in us. I walked away inspired—not just by what I learned, but by the incredible people I met along the way. It reminded me how powerful community can be when people gather with purpose.

Here’s the part that still gives me chills.

Just a few days before receiving my invitation to Climate Cultura, I had officially signed my offer letter with an organization whose mission is helping make our planet a better place.

Coincidence?

I don’t believe so.

Two opportunities, arriving almost simultaneously, both centered around creating a healthier future for our world. It’s one of those moments that makes you stop and smile because you realize God has been connecting dots long before you ever saw the picture.

Today marks my first 30 days on the job, and I still wake up feeling grateful.

Grateful for the opportunity.

Grateful for the people.

Grateful for the mission.

Every conversation, every meeting, every new relationship reminds me that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. It’s such a refreshing feeling to work alongside people who genuinely care about making a difference, and I can’t wait to continue growing with them.

If there’s one thing this past year has taught me, it’s this:

Life has a funny way of rewriting the story you thought you were living.

The last year was one of the hardest seasons I’ve ever experienced. Moving to a new city. Starting over. Having no village nearby. Feeling isolated while trying to remain hopeful. There were days I questioned everything.

But there were also days that quietly shaped me.

Days that taught me resilience.

Days that strengthened my faith.

Days that reminded me that sometimes God isolates us not to punish us, but to prepare us.

One day soon, I’ll share those stories more openly on my YouTube channel. There is so much I want to tell you—the lessons, the heartbreak, the unexpected joy, and everything in between. My hope is that if someone else finds themselves in a season that feels lonely or uncertain, these whispers from afar will remind them that they aren’t walking alone.
