Hello moon lovers and star gazers,
It’s eclipse season! The new moon arrives in fiery Leo on 12 August, bringing with it a powerful invitation to begin again. This isn’t an ordinary new moon, however. It is accompanied by a Solar Eclipse, amplifying the energy of fresh starts, unexpected shifts, and profound transformation.
In southern Portugal, I will see it the eclipse from about 6.30 pm onwards. We’ll have to find a high spot to experience it, although we don’t have glasses, so we won’t be looking at it of course. We should get about 93% totality. It would be amazing to see it setting over the Atlantic!
In astrology, a new moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle—a time to plant seeds and set intentions for what you hope to grow. A Solar Eclipse magnifies this energy. It can reveal hidden truths, close doors that have quietly reached their end, and open paths we may never have considered. While eclipses can sometimes feel unpredictable, they often guide us exactly where we need to be.
Leo is ruled by the sun, making this eclipse especially potent. Its energy asks us to lead with our hearts, embrace our creativity, and have the courage to be seen exactly as we are. Rather than shrinking ourselves or waiting for the “right” moment, Leo reminds us that our light is meant to shine.
