Hello, I’m Wendy Pratt; author and poet. I wrote a memoir, The Ghost Lake, about my experience of living on an ancient extinct glacial lake called Paleolake Flixton in North Yorkshire, and how I found my place in a long line of lake ancestry going back to the palaeolithic. I also wrote a poetry collection, Blackbird Singing at Dusk, a kind of sister project to the memoir.

Thanks so much to everyone who pulled themselves to their computers on a hot, July morning to sit in the zoom room and write. It’s so hard to carve that time out, and I’m grateful to have had company and community for that simple hour of creativity. As always I came away nourished.

This month we looked at the celebration of harvest, Lammas in particular, and how knowing so little about the Anglo Saxon festival leaves it wide open to interpretation. And interpret we did. There was some fantastic work produced in both sessions. I know the evening poem sparked something magical too…
