Wendy Perrotti · Reclaiming Muchness by Wendy Perrotti

You know that head-bobbing, chest-swelling ahhhh yes moment - when someone else’s words unpack something that’s been lurking in the shadows of your head and heart?

When an unexpected recognition pulls you forward and lands you, almost without warning, at an insight you didn’t even know you were looking for…

It feels heady.
Euphoric.
Like drawing a finish line across an item on your to-do list.

Real insight is a tonic. No wonder we’re addicted.

The problem is - that moment passes. And most of us go right back to searching for the next one, without ever doing anything with the first.

So we get stuck.
Or we stay stuck.
We beat ourselves up because nothing is moving despite trying this hard for this long.

“I know better.”
“How am I back here again?”
“What’s wrong with me?”

So much self-blame and judgment.
It feels bloody awful.

“How on earth can I get myself out of this funk?”

Right back to the tonic.
Articles, books, podcasts…

And that instant relief – ahhhh yes, now I see.

It feels like you have the answer, and that feels great.
But insight is never the answer.

It’s merely an entry point.

Insight and clarity are two completely different animals. Insight is the AHA. Clarity is what you do with it. They’re not the same thing.

There’s a trap there too.

It looks like this…

“AHA! I get it.”
“Now I just need to figure out what to do with it.”

Thinking feels like doing - it feels like trying.
And it can be exhausting.

But it doesn’t move the needle.
Not on clarity.
Not on change.

Thinking generates more thinking. And eventually, exhaustion starts to feel like failure.

The way out isn’t more thinking. It’s one small, immediate action that answers the question What’s the high leverage move here?

The high-leverage move is always the smallest action you can take (right now) that inches you closer to living like the woman you’re becoming.

And what action you choose to take is almost irrelevant.
What matters is that you’re experimenting by doing things that feel aligned with that next version of you.

Every time you act from that place, you’re no longer trying to change.
You’re already changing.

And those little experiments add up. In no time, you’ll notice…

  • Decisions that used to take weeks starting to get made.

  • You stop over-functioning as your first response.

  • You recover from hard moments faster - not because they stop happening, but because you know how to come back from them.

Bottom line - you stop needing everything to improve before you can feel like yourself.

What’s one small action you’ve taken that moved the needle more than you expected?
