Apple’s recent AI intelligence Ads demonstrate how it will benefit all areas of our life.
If you’ve not seen any of these ads, here is a video of one.
Will it enhance our lives?
While these ads tend to convey that humans are cognitively inadequate without AI, more crucially, they convey an idea far more insidious than any concerns over losing our capacity to process information, remember things or to do our work well.
The idea they convey is that fooling people is valuable.
These ads remind me of this meme:
Strange, isn’t it, that business seminars and corporate meetings in the recent past focused on authenticity and respect.
Here, every ad ends with a smirk on the face of the clever human that used the AI Intelligence. That beguiling smirk people have when they believe they’ve gotten away with something. In these ads, for instance, people are not doing their work, or remembering a name, or remembering a loved one’s birthday gift.
Where will this lead us as humans?
Certainly not to being valued, respected and honoured as authentic unique human beings, but rather, to becoming merely a conduit for an AI. This pivotally movement potentially leads us towards increasing distrust, dislike, and disrespect for the human behind the screen.
But, I have hope. We humans still retain the skill to spot a fool and their foolishness.
