Hello, spring! Your arrival assures me there are brighter days ahead. And today, the Spring Equinox, where the day matches the night, ending winter’s reign, I welcome your sense of balance. Now I can dial more time and energy into things that help me blossom and dial back on fruitless endeavours.
We constantly tip the scales in either direction moment to moment. One minute we have a gush of energy to pour into new projects, lovers and friends, spaces, places and forgotten pastimes. And hours, days, or seconds later something else sets in—sleep, sickness, scrolling.
When I consider my well-being, I think: how can I compose my life to lead with what matters most right now, while harmonising with the rhythm of my soul?
The only way I know to do that is to go within, tuning out the external noise, expectations, and real pressures. Only then I hear my voice…and God’s gentle voice reassuring me it’s okay to be where I am, right in this moment and that I’m human: without all the answers, walking on paths obscured with pretty petals, thorny twigs, mucky mud, patchy puddles.
Spring’s awakening call is simply to hear your melody and to find your rhythm in this new cycle of life.
Simply being outside, especially when enclosed in the depths of nature: by a glazed azure lake, encased in the woody, bluebell carpeted grove, or along a blossom-lined path, is when I know how to compose life. The soundless song, with distinct chirping interwoven into my melody, sings to my soul the path that feels at home right now.
Today, or some day soon, will you step out underneath the silver sky to compose, listen, or be heard? Will you allow spring’s bounty to help clear your path?
These journal prompts can be answered with a lit candle close by, in a quiet corner, while in the depths of nature, or any spot that calms your soul.
What does your inner season feel like right now?
The equinox marks a turning point in nature — where are you in your own cycle? Are you emerging, still wintering, or somewhere in between? What would it mean to honour that authentically? What are you ready to dial up, and what are you ready to release?
Spring invites us to tend what truly matters and let the rest fall away. What has been softly asking for more of your time and energy? What have you been carrying that no longer serves this new cycle? What does your path feel like underfoot right now?
Is it muddy, sun-dappled, overgrown, clear? Sit with that image — physical or metaphorical — and follow where it leads. What does the terrain tell you about where you are, and what do you need to keep walking?
