July 4, 2026. Happy Independence Day. 250th -
Today, while reading about the engineering and artistry behind the Statue of Liberty, learning about a time capsule being buried with contributions from all 50 states to be opened 250 years from now, BBQing with family and friends, running local trails, watching the World Cup, and preparing for a home tour and listing launch, I found myself reflecting on what makes America, America.
It feels like a uniquely Santa Barbara day, yet also a universal one.
I’ve been thinking about all the very different people who built this country and continue to shape it today. In my childhood I learned at home of America being a melting pot, and now watching World Cup athletes from around the world visit American cities to compete at the highest level reminds me that we can be great and be good humans at the same time.
We can declare our independence, compete fiercely, take risks, work for years toward a goal, and when the score is settled, it’s settled. The elite athletes cheer, cry, shake hands, and sometimes hug it out. I love watching with my daughter and sister both at home and in our local pubs.
And if you know me: I love helping people with their homes as much as I love running Santa Barbara trails and I am grateful I can do both on the same day.
Even when I fall and skin my knees, like yesterday, which happens a lot, I get back up and keep running. Same for being home owner, raising my daughter, starting a business.
If you are reading this and thinking about our place in the world on our 250th Independence Day, and starting something new, or ending something that is no longer healthy, or taking a chance on something big for yourself, your family, or your community, I’m here to cheer for you and connect you with people who may be able to help and to be of service along the way. Let’s connect!
And I need your help, too.
I am building my elite level, independent sports and entertainment real estate business through relationships, referrals, and community connections. If someone you care about is involved in Sports or Entertainment, or thinking about making a move, or planning ahead, I would be grateful for an introduction. I’d love to sit down for coffee, learn more, and see if we can team up together. I’m grateful to be of service.
In the meantime, I’ll keep writing, running, helping people with their homes, and sharing information that I hope is useful.
