Here. We. Go.

March Madness is upon us and its going to be a good one. Analytically the 1 seeds are amongst the greatest teams of all time, but all come in with question marks… Duke and Michigan are dealing with injuries, Florida is coming off a blowout loss, people still aren’t sold on their guard play, and they don’t shoot it well from 3, while Arizona looks to flip the narrative they have earned as postseason chokers. We are going to dive into each region and give our breakdowns so hope you enjoy and win your bracket pools and win some bets!! BetSaracen is offering a lot of great promos for March Madness so highly encourage you to take advantage.

East Region: “Legendary”

This region is packed full of legendary programs (7 teams in this region have won national championships) and hall of fame coaches. I think we see chalk win this region as I like Duke here to get to the final four but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see UCLA and USF made runs to the second weekend!

South Region: “Blue Collar”

The teams in the south region are not afraid to punch you in the mouth. From Florida on the glass to Houston’s defense to Bucky Ball’s full court press, this will be an exciting region. I think this is the most wide open region in the tournament, with Florida, Houston, and Illinois all having a very realistic shot to got to the Final Four.

West Region: “All Offense”

The West is stacked with scoring. They have 5 teams currently ranked in the top 11 of Kenpom’s offensive rating rankings. However, I think this is Arizona’s region to lose. They have been the most dominant and consistent team all year and they are my pick to win it all

Midwest Region: “Top-Heavy”

I absolutely love both Michigan and Iowa State, they each meet the requirements to win the national championship and have each had great seasons. However, the rest of this group leaves a lot to be desired. Virginia is a weak #3, Alabama just lost their second leading scorer to a pound of weed, and Texas Tech lost their best player to a torn ACL. If it’s not #1 vs. #2 in the Elite 8, I will be shocked.

East Region

This is a region full of teams that I am not sold on and was hoping these teams would be in seperate regions so I could fade them a bit. I think Duke has a pretty clean shot to the E8 and honestly the F4. Jon Scheyer is a great coach and if it weren’t for a huge collapse vs. Houston, could’ve found himself cutting down the nets. There are some injuries to account for, but it seems like Ngongba will join them at some point. If you are going to pick somebody other than Duke, I think you could get a little value on UCONN since the last image on everybody’s mind is them getting blown out by St. Johns, but I am riding with Duke in this one.

South Region

I got the defending champions going down early in this one. Florida’s guard play concerns me, and I think Vandy showed what happened when you can get them in a half-court game. There are some concerning stats that show teams who are negative in 3PT% differential and TO% differential, and Florida falls into both categories. I predict they will match up with Iowa, who is the best team in the country at keeping things slow and limiting possessions. Bennett Stirtz is a star and I think they are the exact team to give Florida problems. So then my Final Four comes down to Illinois or Houston and I honestly went back and forth for a while. I lean Houston just because Illinois struggles with TO’s, but it could go either way.

West Region

I think this is a region you pencil in Purdue and Arizona to the E8. Both teams are great analytically and are playing great ball. If Gonzaga gets Braden Huff back at some point, maybe they give Purdue a scare, but he hasn’t played in quite some time. I am rolling with Purdue in this hypothetical E8 matchup. Their defense has improved as of late since tinkering their lineups and in games against Top 100 teams, Arizona ranks 3rd while Purdue ranks 4th. Everybody is penciling in Arizona, so I think its a spot to gain some value.

Midwest Region

Another one where I am penciling in the top seeds in Michigan and Iowa State. I am not high on Michigan, but they got about as easy a draw as you can get IMO, and with me rolling the dice on Purdue and Houston, don’t want to push the envelope too much, so I am going with Michigan to the F4, but if you are going with Arizona and Florida to the F4, Iowa State would be a good spot to pivot and go a bit against the grain.
