“Every night, tears enter my eyes
Never mind, I just wanna dance right now.” There’s something magnetic about Provoker’s “Tears in the Club,” a standout from their new album, Mausoleum, released May 9th, 2025. This track lands right at the intersection of post punk, darkwave, and synthpop, wrapping heavy emotion in pulsing synths and shadowy grooves. It’s a song for those nights when you’re not okay, but you still need to move; when the dance floor becomes both a hiding place and a stage for your struggles.
Provoker have always excelled at blending vulnerability with cool detachment, and this release feels especially timely for me. The album dropped near the birthday of someone I’ve been close to my whole life, but recent family loss has pulled us apart. Listening to “Tears in the Club” reminds me of those moments when I put on headphones, lower my head, and just keep going; whether it’s at the gym, at a concert, or just lost in thought. Sometimes, respecting someone’s space is the only way forward, even if it hurts. This track captures that bittersweet feeling: wanting to reconnect, but knowing you can’t force it, and learning to let go for now.
I’ve found real comfort in this song’s honesty. It’s a reminder that even when life feels out of your control, you can still claim a little joy; if only for a song or a night. If you’ve ever used music to get through a rough patch or to process a complicated relationship, you’re not alone. What’s your therapy track?
