After a very hot day at the Artisans Marketplace at Abbot Hall on Friday, I wasn’t sure that I would make it out to shoot the Marblehead fireworks this year. That would be my first missed show since 2008!
As luck would have it, inspiration struck at 6am on Saturday and, after setting up for a just-as-hot day 2 at the Artisans Marketplace, I headed to the Warwick parking lot and checked out compositions with my drone. I found that the 2.5x lens from just over the Warwick perfectly captured Abbot Hall as well as the harbor and Marblehead Light. I had always wanted to include Abbot in my fireworks shots but never could.
Tonight, after securing a 3-mile strobe to the drone, I flew up and first captured a panorama of the Harbor Illumination. I then shot bursts as the fireworks exploded and hoped my settings would work out…
I will be back at Abbot Hall tomorrow from 10am to 3pm. Hope to see you there!
