10 things that are working for us, filtered through the senses.
Alden’s List:
TASTE
Armra Colostrum in the flavor Blood Orange. I was taking the to-go packs every day during a really hectic work trip that I was worried I’d get sick on. I didn’t get sick. I’ve heard colostrum can also make your boobs bigger.. If that’s of interest.
PSA. I consulted my friend Katrina who is a registered dietitian about colostrum. See the below convo. I will definitely start taking a woman’s prenatal.
SMELL
I arrived home yesterday from New Mexico after finishing my second Healer Training with David Elliott. I want to write more about this later.. But.. his oils are the best. Each essential oil corresponds with the different chakras. They are all natural, made with a blend of different high quality oils, and are made with a lot of love. I use them during my breathwork classes and privates, as well as on myself depending on what i’m looking for. My most commonly used oils are open heart (rose and jasmine) and grounding (which I apply to the arches of my feet before teaching a class or when I need grounding aka always).
HEAR
LIZZY’S NEW E-BIKING PLAYLIST. A playlist for the people. I listen to it everyday. Highlight is TAAL 4 U, Zenjah.
TOUCH
Silky new Araks underwear sets I bought. I purchased this blue top and matching bottom, and this bra in the color bare with these matching underwear. There was an instagram I saw months ago - I wish I could find it - featuring two magical, esoteric NYU girls who spoke about wearing beautiful clothing/underwear at home just for themselves. I have a new intention which is to make every moment sacred … especially the moments where nobody is watching.
SEE
The sweet details from the hotel we stayed at in New Mexico. We stayed at The Inn of The Five Graces. They had Flamingo Estate products. I will be buying this body wash. I got in the shower and was overwhelmed by how good it smelled.. And then my mom immediately commented on how good I smelled after as well. Speaking of Flamingo Estate produces. I really like this candle. Jasmine is one of my favorite scents. I wear a little jasmine oil I got from India almost every day.
Lizzy’s List:
TASTE
I just spent time upstate styling my friend Vilda Gonzalez. She is an incredible chef and everything she touches is beautiful. Rice with onion flowers, salad with roasted hazelnuts, black currants and smoked chili flakes… Her home is filled with ceramics she hand carries home from Japan and Mexico.
We always end up talking about self care & beauty - through the lens of food or fashion or our own faces - of course we discussed the launch of High Touch… fascinating. Every time I am with Vilda I am reminded of how important it is to make simple, at-home meals beautiful. I’ve lived alone for a while and it’s just so boring cooking for myself, I usually end up snacking. When I started my panchakarma in India my doctor did a blood test and I found out I am pre-diabetic. I have to get a handle on my glucose. Luckily I know Vilda. And she believes in the power of beans. And making beans beautiful. Beans can help stabilize blood sugar and get me off this glucose roller coaster. So I am starting The Bean Protocol again.
I listened to this podcast about Karen Hurd, who saved her daughter’s life from liver failure due to a chemical poisoning by feeding her beans which have the soluble fiber to actually remove the toxins from the body instead of recirculating through the bile.
Vilda & Eden beans cook their beans with kombu to make them easier to digest. So this is what I’ll be tasting:
SEE
I have been using my Lume red light therapy box for my skin issues on my back and face and it’s really helping as long as I stay consistent. I love that I can mount it on my headboard.
HEAR
Oumou Sangaré’s 1991 album Moussolou
TOUCH
Dirt. I helped my friend plant his garden and there’s nothing like dirt under the fingernails to make me feel more alive.
SMELL
Fresh paint.
Our friend Carter Burch is an artist and I commissioned him to paint this scene for my parents 45th wedding anniversary. I tear up when I sit in front of it. See his work here. Buy his art!
