happy friday y’all! that happened fast - it’s time for another norwich farmer’s market tomorrow.
my delight with late summer produce continues: this week i made a roasted garlic and corn bisque for dinner one night with grilled cheese (cabot alpine cheddar) on the perfect seedy sourdough from our friend carina at straw brook bakery. (no photos, too busy eating.)
i also gave in to my fixation on apple butter and made up a batch to use to test an allergen-friendly version of an apple cider donut loaf cake. the results were fine, but i have some work to do before it’s ready for the big leagues.
i switched gears a bit and decided to make a buttermilk biscuit instead, using cultured butter from ploughgate creamery for a slightly richer and tangier flavor, and pairing it with the homemade apple butter i made earlier in the week. it was truly torture to smell these baking up this afternoon!
here’s the menu for tomorrow:
toasted brown butter chocolate chip cookies
buckwheat chocolate madeleines (gf)
everything focaccia (gf) w/ chili crisp cream cheese
salted buttermilk biscuits w/ homemade apple butter
hope to see you there! even if you’re not craving anything on the menu, come say hey, grab a free sticker, and tell us what you’re up to this weekend.
