This is a continuation of our previous post, where we introduced the concept of the KEIRIN camera being designed for expandability.
REMOFLSH™ is a compact yet powerful wireless flash that automatically syncs with the camera. It communicates using radio, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for an external trigger.
We live in a wireless world, we can review media and update firmware using external devices… but there's still one thing to accomplish: a direct connection between the camera and flash, without the need for an external trigger using the cold or hot shoe.
In 1913, Leica introduced the "cold shoe" as a standardized mount for optical rangefinders.
In the 1940s, with the addition of the central contact, the design became commonly used for attaching and triggering flashes, and it was known as the "hot shoe".
In the 1980s, Minolta, the leader in camera technology at that time, introduced the iISO (intelligent ISO) flash shoe, which could electronically connect with the camera and communicate with the flash.
Since then, different cameras have developed their proprietary analogue and digital hot shoes and communication protocols. This has resulted in incompatibility between flashes and other peripherals from different manufacturers.
In 2023, we decided to design the camera replacing the standard hot shoe on our camera with the XPNSNBAY™ (expansion bay). This new system allows you to attach various peripherals, including our PANOFNDR™ (optical viewfinder). However, the most significant feature of the KEIRIN is its powerful wireless connectivity, which combines WIFI, Bluetooth, and Radio waves.
Thanks to robust wireless connectivity, you can use the viewfinder and flash simultaneously. This is a notable upgrade from other cameras that force you to choose between the two when connecting via a hot shoe.
Off-camera flash photography is fun and highly creative. Many professionals use off-camera flash setups, and some of the most impactful street photography is often lit by handheld flash.
REMOFLSH™ has been designed for a comfortable hand fit. It's lightweight yet made of metal and fits in a pocket. Includes essential power controls in the body and full custom configuration via the camera UI.
It also features a magnetic dome system, which allows for various types of interchangeable Fresnel and coloured light diffusers.
