There are moments in history when the questions become more important than the answers.
We seem to be living through one of those moments.
Around us, many of the systems that have shaped modern life are showing signs of strain: political polarisation, ecological degradation, economic uncertainty, technological disruption, loneliness, and a growing loss of trust in institutions. Yet at the same time, countless individuals, communities, and organisations are quietly experimenting with new ways of living, leading, creating, collaborating, and serving life.
The question is no longer whether change is coming.
The question becomes: what kind of future are we helping to create?
It’s no longer simply about what future we want, but what capacities we need to cultivate to navigate and shape that future.
Do we continue to invest our energy in systems rooted primarily in extraction, competition, control, and short-term gain?
Or do we begin to cultivate systems that support life, regenerate ecosystems, strengthen communities, deepen belonging, and honour our interdependence with each other and the living world?
This is one of the reasons we are gathering in Brussels for The Invitation.
Not as a conference. Not as a retreat. But as a space for dialogue, reflection, connection, and emergence.

Through facilitated inquiry circles, collaborative conversations, embodied practices, and emergent co-creation spaces, participants will explore the questions, tensions, and possibilities that are most alive in the group.
While the direction of the gathering will emerge through the collective field, themes likely to surface include:

• Regenerative and cosmo-local futures
• Leadership in times of transition
• New economic possibilities
• Community resilience
• Our relationship with the living world
Across two and a half days of dialogue, reflection, connection, and emergence, international and local participants will gather to explore what is being asked of us in these times, and what new possibilities might emerge when we listen deeply to ourselves, each other, and the wider systems we inhabit.
Participants are joining us from the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, China, and Belgium - creating a rich exchange between international perspectives and local wisdom.
A particular theme running through the gathering is the growing importance of cosmo-localism: the ability to connect globally while acting locally. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, many of the most promising solutions emerge when global knowledge, technologies, and networks are combined with local culture, place-based wisdom, community stewardship, and regenerative action.
In many ways, The Invitation itself is an experiment in this possibility: bringing together globally connected people who are committed to meaningful action in their own communities, organisations, and places.
The future may not belong to either globalisation or localisation, but to a dynamic relationship between the two.
This spirit is reflected in the people and initiatives contributing to the gathering.
The Invitation is a co-creation between Samantha Sweetwater and Voices of Emergence founders Alex de Carvalho and Rudy de Waele. Together, they bring complementary perspectives on humanity and technology, emergence and action, regeneration and relationship.
We are honoured to welcome the wisdom, experience, and intelligence of Samantha Sweetwater and her work through True Human, exploring what it means to remain deeply human in a time of accelerating technological and cultural change. Alongside Samantha, Alex de Carvalho will bring perspectives from The Enactment Arc, exploring how meaningful change emerges through practice, embodiment, and collective action rather than ideas alone.
We are also delighted to be joined by Weaving Wolves - Inge, Leen, and Catherine - a collective of facilitators accompanying entrepreneurs, organisations, and learning communities through moments of transition and uncertainty. Their work is rooted in regenerative principles and focuses on helping people navigate the liminal space between what is ending and what is seeking to emerge.
Throughout the gathering, the Weaving Wolves team will support the facilitation of group inquiries and participatory processes, helping create the conditions for deep listening, meaningful exchange, and emergent collaboration.
Many of the guests joining us in Brussels will already be familiar to listeners of the Voices of Emergence podcast, where we explore questions of regeneration, technology, leadership, community, and cultural transformation.
Among the participants are several past and upcoming Voices of Emergence podcast guests, including Samantha Sweetwater (True Human), Lucian Tarnowski (United Planet), Lisanne Buik (Gracious AI), Thomas Mansfield (Thinking Like Gaia), and others whose conversations will be released in the coming weeks.

For those unable to attend the full gathering, it is also possible to join the True Human Salon on Friday evening.
Hosted by Samantha Sweetwater and community guests, this standalone event offers a keynote and salon-style dialogue exploring the deeper questions of being human in a rapidly changing world. It serves as a lighter on-ramp into the field of the gathering and is open to those wishing to experience a single evening of meaningful conversation and connection.
At its heart, The Invitation is a simple question:
What truly matters now?
And perhaps equally important:
How do we find each other, learn together, and begin building the conditions for life to flourish in the decades ahead?
