chroot on Android without Linux-Deploy

Every so often I forget how much of a pain using my old PH-1 (rooted, LineageOS 20—yes I know I should update) as a server is and give it a go. This round, I’ve skipped the aged Linux-Deploy and wanted a cleaner solution. I’ve found this guide⁠ before but it never worked. In the age of LLMs, I just passed the error I always got and Gemini told me the solution—the guide installs the chroot to /data/local/tmp/chrootubuntu but /data/local/tmp/ is protected on certain Android versions rendering the whole install useless. I moved the install and everything is going smoothly so far! I’m planning on trying to run Vikunja to access through my Tailnet. I’ll buy and setup a proper server (with NixOS, probably) someday, but probably not anytime soon due to the flash price hikes.
