Canvas is Open Source Software!?

I just learnt that Canvas is open source under AGPL3⁠?? That’s super cool.

I was looking into their API to see if there is an automated way to batch create assignments and idly clicked on a little link which opened to the source code which was a pleasant surprise.

Aside on the interrobang (!?):

I’m starting to use this a bit more and I’ve taken to it. I initially wrote the title with just a ?, but that is unquestionably posing a question—i.e. “Is Canvas OSS?”. A bang would’ve sufficed, but it doesn’t relay the feeling of incredulity I held when I saw that. I mean it was enough of a force to get me to write about it, and I’m usually very bad about writing things that interest me or that I should take note of.

In the spirit of disambiguation (which I’m a very big fan of; I like clear definitions so we can understand what we are saying), I hereby define my usage of the interrobang to (mostly) entail incredulity.

I might write a proper post or piece later, if I’m up to it. I have a nix flake to debug which irked me well into the morning and has been buzzing in my head ever since. More on that later :)
