May Day, May Day

The exact squares of Mercury & Pluto, and Mars & Jupiter today have sparked quite the little explosions in the world the past few days as the intensity of the two power player planets intensify and squeeze us in some most uncomfortable ways. Cries for help are to be expected as squares initiate experiences of challenging growth for a more refined self and outcome.

First we’ve had Mars in Aries forming a 3rd quarter square to Jupiter in Cancer, building up since May 1, which is signifying the beginning of the end to this 2 year cycle that began mid-August of 2024. The 1st quarter square of this cycle was in early September of 2025, with the separating and polarizing opposition hitting us mid-January of this year. All of these tense aspects between Mars which dictates our desires, confidence, conflicts and primal drives and Jupiter which holds our highest ideals, joys and enthusiasm, truths and expansion are forcing adjustments to the ways that these energies interact in our lives. It’s worth thinking of the events that are amplified in your life right now and track the threads or parallels back through these dates to get a larger picture of how these challenges are refining and sharpening the dreams that spark your inner fire, as well as redefining your meaning of life. Today’s exact square has both planets in places of power that may feel like a push - pull between enveloping oneself in the comforts of bed and home to dissolve into the void of ones inner world and walls, and the strong push to assert ones power and change the course of ones life that is free from past imprints. Ones emotional landscape may feel threatened as one is metaphorically forced from the nest, ultimately building ones confidence to confront what disturbs ones peace. There’s a reminder here to remain soft and human in this confrontation, developing a new level of grace and understanding of the human condition that allows for the assertiveness of Aries to be aware of the ways it can impact other’s emotional waters and how to adjust the ways one goes after desires. And if this is all happening within oneself at this time, we must exert this same understanding and grace to ourselves. It’s a square dance between the lone wolf that is totally fine going it alone and the divine mother that deeply cares for all under her proverbial roof.

This confidence piece is of the utmost importance as the end of this cycle and beginning of the next one occurs mid-November with a world changing conjunction of Mars, Jupiter and the South Node at 25º of Leo, while squaring the Sun in Scorpio. Buckle up for that one. It will be a massive test of ones fortitude and heart resonance to move forward with ones truth and creative vision despite what may be some deeply unsettling circumstances that seem to be taking it all away. The meaning of life may be wiped out completely for some, while for others it could bring up past life experiences of starting a crusade with magnified vengeance, or it may initiate a solidification of ones true heart and essence that is moving from the depths of ones soul to bring this new vision of possibility into the collective while letting it evolve into what it needs to be. Overall, personal agendas are sacrificed for the larger forces and energies that are changing the structures of reality as we know it.

As Mars and Jupiter slowly wind down their closing 2 year cycle, Mercury in Taurus is hitting an opening 1st quarter square to Pluto in Aquarius. This might be the more grind-y of the two squares, as fixed signs tend to flex harder at each other, luckily it’s a more fleeting experience. The opening square is giving us the first indication of what is needing to change for moving forward. This shorter cycle between the magician and the lord of the underworld began on January 22 this year in early Aquarius, with the Sun and Venus co-present giving more star quality energy to the ethers. Behind the scenes flashes of genius, the seeding of exciting new connections, and multi-dimensional experiences that stretch ones reality gutters would have been on the menu back then, with these events slowly being illuminated as all of these planets move away from under the beams of the Sun. Now we are seeing where some stubborn thought patterns have kept us from accessing larger reserves of power, keeping us in the materialist belief that one must struggle to survive alone, perhaps. Or this could be activating some extreme feeling financial fears of not having enough, or that ones safety net feels quite porous as relationships are strained. There may also be a lot of communication missteps, either hyper focusing ones attention on a particular relationship funneling all of ones frustrations upon a person or group of people, or refusing to acknowledge a conflict that perhaps has been growing under the surface since late January that will eventually blow up at the opposition around August 11. This is an opportunity to make necessary adjustments now to mitigate a bigger upheaval down the road. Talk or write or sing about the hard things that are bringing up these fears that swirl in ones head. There’s a strange interplay between practical, grounded reality and how strange and etheric reality actually is. Feeling torn between these two competing ideas and experiences of the world is also on the menu today. Quietly observant amusement may be the middle way.
