The rain fell in half of our backyard, so that you ran to one side and got drenched, then ran to the other for the dry warmth, only a couple acres apart. It resembled the week’s schedule, where I lived at mom’s and went to school in the projects. And on the weekend dad picked us up and I was suddenly surrounded by a flock of siblings. Don’t worry who the rain was. The drizzle refreshed the skin. It reminded me to slow down, to take in every drop, and listen for the music after the storm, hidden under the forest stones and softened bark.
