In France, the month of May has more holes than Swiss cheese with bank holidays lining up to make it a difficult time for productivity. But at Villa Blu, we tried hard to make it an impactful month for our portfolio startups and bring some news to our ecosystem 👇
On the 21st of May, it was our one-year anniversary. Though we didn’t blow any candles, the entire Villa Blu team and ecosystem were proud to look back on what has been achieved over the past year and we’re slowly starting to catch up to Robertet Group’s 175 years of activity 🎂
And for our gift this year, we were excited to announce that our co-founder and Entrepreneur-in-Residence Philippine Léger-Bangratz has returned after her maternity leave taking care of her amazing twins Hazel & Lazare 👶👧
Great news for our startups who will benefit from her many years of experience building and developing brands for L’Oreal.
As part of our vision to make Villa Blu the hub of corporate innovation for Robertet Group, carried by our CEO and Robertet’s Chief Innovation Officer, Olivier Maubert, we were very fortunate to be invited by Anne Groeppelin & Stéphanie Bisgaard to visit Accenture Innovation Labs in Sophia-Antipolis. It was awe-inspiring to see what other corporate actors are doing to stimulate innovation within their groups and prepare their companies for future trends. Bonus : many innovation trends are focusing on Health & Food, two sectors at the core of Robertet’s strategy.

Olivier Decazes & Rita Masoud came to Villa Blu during our Batch 2 with a vision to become the world leader on Nigella Sativa (black seed) with their treatment brand L’Officine du Monde and have since then been developing a powerful wellness community with millions of views on social media. But their interactions with Robertet Group are leading to a new vision : Odelia Laboratoires, an innovative bioscience company dedicated to production, transformation and R&D on nigella sativa and its powerful active ingredient, thymoquinone.
After just over a year on the market, Selvatico has become an expert in launching and operating successful pop-up stores in Asia’s most renowned luxury malls. Over 20 pop-up stores created, over $1M in revenue and a niche perfumery brand that is becoming widely recognised by the Asian market. This time the luxury mall Times Square in Seoul played host to Selvatico, but every step brings Jin and his team closer to opening stores in France and Europe 🇫🇷
At the moment, three of our startups are currently raising funds, with more preparing themselves for a Q2 round.
