to whom it may concern: this week we will be speaking from the heart with an intention to be brief.
famous last words, these…and here we are just at the beginning!
the thing is it’s already 3:45pm on a Sunday and according to the animal clock i have all of 45 minutes (if i am lucky) to compose this thought, and honestly who has time to read all these thoughts of mine anyway?
everyone is busy these day and the heat of summer doesn’t help. on a good day we manage to check a few boxes while the sweat drips down our forehead and on the bad ones we just feel like a wet rag in all of the ways.
strangely enough, this Sunday i feel the tingle of Tony Robbins’ fabled momentum. rather than being gained by going faster in any particular direction, it seems to be a result of pursuing the same goals for long enough while simultaneously managing to lose some baggage and drop the overall weight of my mission.
que sera, sera — what will be, will be… because i designed it that way.
because i made a plan and stuck to it just like momma always said!
that said, today’s momentum is bordering on giddy (okay that might be the caffeine), which is not exactly a pristine place of creation. nonetheless, i want to offer you something worthwhile here without going too deep for a casual scroll on the Stack.
if i was a dedicated painter at this point in my life i would make a picture for you of a bunch of people swimming in a wide river or a lake, something like Seurat’s pointillist picnic but more modern and brighter colors, and sort of a hectic energy that embodies what i feel these days, which is that everyone is holding on to dear life and that has somehow translated into just floating around with inner tubes aimlessly.
i mean really, that’s summer for you.
why not just moo at the moon and be glad of it?
this year of the horse came galloping in and here we are now half over and everyone is in the bathroom fixing their hair and touching up their make-up, trying to look like we have it all together, but really we are just hurtling through the uncertainty with nothing more than a video game controller to guide our way.
yes, we are the superhero of our story, as wisely put a friend, but isn’t that a funny thing to picture — all those billions of superheros in the world floating around in the combined ether of our individual superhero stories?
there we are, you and me ! i’m the one in the silvery blue get-up and rhinestone tiara…. you’re there with a big turquoise arrow tattooed on your shaved skull and shimmering purple eye shadow and the grand truth of it all is that no one really knows what they’re doing right now other than keeping up (which mind you is no small task).
keeping up with the dishes, the laundry, watering those plants.
are all the beings fed? are the bills paid? is there gas in the car? have you eaten today?
i guess the funny thing is we could be floating around in a pool of self-made suffering, or we could be at a pool party. maybe we could even just visualize whatever suffering we might happen to have on had at the moment as its own version of a pool party with all its rightful characters and even just with that shift in perspective we are smiling and laughing and mooing at the moon like cows that just don’t give a f*ck.
i mean really, when have you ever seen a cow give a f*ck?
(besides cow paddies of course)
down here in Mexico the cows just go with the flow, and when it leads them to the beach, pues mejor.
so that is where we are going my friends.
here is your rapid fire Sunday smile. hope it gave you something !
don’t you worry there is more heady longform coming your way soon…all good things take time to grow, thought included.
take care of yourself on this gorgeous gift of a day, and we will see you again real soon.
