Hi All,

Hope you are all enjoying the dramatic transition to spring in ləkwəŋən territories. I was over at Swan Lake last Friday and the Marsh Wrens were sure going off. Also spotted my first swallows of the season.

I just wanted to write a little update on the Victoria Bird Language Club. I’m going through a bit of a life transition at the moment and am not going to be planning any meetups for this spring. Hopefully we can gather again in the fall or next spring.

However, if anyone would be interested in a casual meet up for slow and mindful birdwatching—please reach out via email or Instagram. I think we could all use some of that in these chaotic times.

Enjoy the boisterous spring birdsong and keep tuning in for the five voices of the birds. Before writing this message I was at my sit spot and witnessed a brief battle between a crow and a Cooper’s Hawk. Always so much going on around us if we just take a moment to pay attention.

Take care,

Julian
