Hello all,
Warmer weather has arrived and the birds are singing! Just had a great sit on my back porch listening to the Bewick’s Wrens, Golden-Crown Sparrows, American Robins and House Finches.
As we move into spring it would be great to reunite the Bird Language Club and continue to learn and practice together our knowledge of bird calls and songs. I am hoping we can meet two or three times in the Spring—during April, May and June—and possibly a few times in the Fall. I am quite booked up with my teaching at UVic until late April, so I’m proposing we schedule our first outing for April 27th, at 9am at Swan Lake. I hope you can join us!
We will meet in the parking lot close to the Nature House, gather for a brief introduction to the practice of bird language interpretation, and then have some time for solo sits and a mapping exercise. It will be very similar to our meet-ups last year, and anyone without much previous bird experience is welcome to attend.
Hope our feathered friends have continued to ignite your imaginations since our last meet-ups in 2023, and I am looking forward to learning together again this year. I will announce all the meet-ups through this list and through my Instagram, so feel free to share either with bird-curious others.
All the best,
Julian
