Vashon Nature Center · Vashon Nature Center

We need to raise $50,000 by June to bring “Singer” into his final form as a sentinel for the seas to inspire marine conservation and stewardship for generations to come. Support Vashon Nature Center in our final stage of raising Vashon’s whale from sea to sky.

As you read this, we are creating “Singer,” a powerful convergence of art, science, education, and community story, along with local contracted artist Ela Lamblin. This installation will be more than a scientific display: it will be an artist-designed sculpture that interprets the whale’s form, scale, and presence, rather than a simple suspension of bones, and will be displayed in the atrium of the Vashon Center for the Arts for all to experience.

Since 2024, over 200 high school students and dozens of community volunteers have supported this project. Join this community effort by donating today!

A gift of $1,000.00 will support the sculpture installation. The first 25 at this level will be honored by the adoption of a rib bone with your name included in the exhibit. 10 gifts of $500 allow the creation of a youth climate council to elevate student voices and increase local climate resilience. Every gift of $100 supports additional eDNA sampling to better understand the marine food web.
