I am Vandana. I have been doing this work — energy healing, consciousness work, sitting with people while they meet what they are carrying — for a little over three decades now. This Substack is where I write about it. One essay every Sunday, free.

What I write about is healing, though I use that word more broadly than it usually gets used. I am less interested in techniques than in what sits underneath the thing a person came in with. Pain, patterns, identity, inherited burdens, silence, fear, longing. Also a great deal of wisdom, usually unrecognised.

What I keep coming back to is that healing does not happen at one level. It happens wherever a person is most ready to be witnessed, and that is not always where they expected. Sometimes what surfaces was written in by this life. Sometimes it is much older, came down through a family, and was never really theirs. Sometimes it sits at soul level and was in place long before any of this began. And occasionally what is asking for attention is not old at all — it is something newly available, which is a stranger experience than it sounds.

Most of what I write circles those four.

If you are reading this, my guess is something has started moving. Maybe you are questioning a version of yourself you have outgrown. Maybe you are being asked to release something before you feel ready. Maybe you are in that in-between place where something is beginning and you have no words for it yet.

I know that place. A good number of these essays were written from inside it.

There is already so much language in the world that sounds deep but says very little, and I have no interest in adding to that. So the writing here is fairly plain. Some weeks it teaches. Some weeks it is just me thinking aloud.
