American cities are broken, but it can seem nearly impossible to understand why. To understand the data that describes your city, it needs to be visually clear in a way that anybody could understand.
Municipal governments often don’t understand themselves very well. Decision makers are flying blind because they can’t see the data that should be driving their decision-making. That’s why telling a visual story with your data is so important. The data that backs up decisions should be shown in a way that even a 6th grader could understand. Without that level of clarity, government transparency to the average person becomes elusive.
