I hit submit on my appellate brief assignment for my legal research class a couple of weeks ago and celebrated. So many pages. So much case law. And now I can tell you that I know a tiny bit about what the case law says about what could happen if a city worker blocked a local citizen from posting on their personal social media page.

Not that you would ever ask.

But if you did, we could talk about the definition of state action.

In addition to finishing up my classes, my baby (almost 17 years old, but still…) went to prom. I mean, just look at him. He’s basically grown, and I’m not ready to talk about it.

(Youngest child went to prom and is so handsome, I’m deceased)

To celebrate no longer having homework to work on, we’ve been watching Paradise. We’ve made it through the first three episodes of season 2. Have you watched it? Don’t tell me what happens!

3 Things I Read Recently

  1. A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy by Tia Levings. If you watched Shiny Happy People, it’s likely you saw Tia Levings. Her story is heart-breaking and gripping. If you ever thought to yourself, “Why doesn’t she just leave. . .” when it comes to abusive marriages, you should read this.

  2. The Many Lives of Mama Love by Lara Love Hardin. You know I love a memoir. This one shares the account of how addiction caused a typical middle-class white woman to end up in prison. You’ll learn about addiction and the many issues with the justice system.

  3. Her Last Breath by Taylor Adams. This is a fiction thriller. Plenty of twists and turns to cause you to rethink everything. I really enjoyed it.

  4. Sharon McMahon’s Commencement Speech. Utah Valley University had to cancel her speech after a concerted pressure campaign from TPUSA and the GOP leaders in Utah resulted in death threats and the University was threatened, but you can still read what she would have said.

3 Things I Listened To

  1. What Does Tucker Carlson Really Believe? The Daily Podcast. The number of times my jaw dropped while listening to Carlson twist himself into knots trying to convince us he’s been a consistent principled voice… I lost count.

  1. The Parenting Prosperity Gospel conversation on the Holy Post.

  2. Book of Lies. Dateline episode.

3 Things Happening In The World

  1. Newsboys Owner files a lawsuit claiming an anticompetitive conspiracy.

  2. Sharon McMahon cancelled.

  3. Tennessee Redistricting.

Some Good News

Decline in Litter

(Ethan and Audrey are home from college, and all three of my kids were hanging out in our room- my nest is briefly full again!)

3 Things About Me This Week

  • Last Sunday I celebrated Mother’s Day with my family by watching Remarkably Bright Creatures. We all loved it. Audrey and I both cried.

  • I got my grades back for the two classes I took this semester. Hooray! Only 3 classes and an internship left!

  • I mapped out articles I’ll be publishing here over the next several months. I can’t wait!

What’s on your list for this last week? I’d love to hear from you!
