Happy Friday, and happy Mother’s Day weekend!

I love this week’s newsletter because it’s all about my favorite meal of the day: breakfast. From fancy scrambled eggs to my favorite French toasts (one of which can be made a day in advance), I hope these recipes inspire a special day. Plus, some tasty seasonal recipes to enjoy this week.

Next week: A postcard from Paris. I’m just back from a trip to the City of Light, and have lots of new Paris food and dining updates to share, like the best baguettes and pastries, where to go right now for French (and not-French) food, and the famous kitchen store that is now a disappointment — and where to go instead.

Soft, layered with buttery cinnamon filling, and topped with a simple vanilla icing. This recipe takes you step by step, with pro baker techniques like how to properly mix the dough, then roll, slice, and bake the buns.

This fun, family-friendly pancake recipe lets you bake a batch of tasty, fluffy breakfast pancakes right in the oven. Sub chocolate chips, etc. as you like!

Challah bread, sweet vanilla custard, and a hot skillet combine for the French toast breakfast you deserve.

Overnight French toast casserole (no sticky buns needed!) topped with gooey, warm pecan caramel. This is a fabulous centerpiece brunch dish.

Top your Sunday bagel better. Flavorful salmon cream cheese takes 5 minutes to make: just smoked salmon, cream cheese, and a hit of fresh herbs.

There are few dishes as versatile and easy as this frittata recipe. Full of vegetables, topped with cheese, and ready in minutes, this easy frittata gives any mealtime an instant upgrade. I think of this as quiche for lazy people, in the best way.

The world’s most satisfying breakfast. With eggs, meat, vegetables, and good bread, a full English means breakfast with a capital B. Here’s how to make it.

A savory tart with tender butter crust and fluffy egg filling folded with cheese and fresh spring vegetables.

Easy patties seasoned with pepper, sage, and just the right amount of maple syrup.

The creamiest grits topped with a shrimp and bacon gravy. Also makes an amazing brunch!

This takes inspiration from salmon onigiri, but expand the flavors into a full, well-rounded dinner featuring fresh salmon, rice, edamame, and seasoning. (You’ll learn how to make authentic sushi rice, too.)
