Something Beautiful

According to folklore, black butterflies symbolize mystery, resilience, deep transformation and major life changes. This one is a female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. “Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness and still become something beautiful.” (Anonymous) As always, Слава Україні!! Героям слава!! #StandWithUkraine

Morning Glory or wild potato vine?

It’s been at least six years since I saw blooms like this at the edge of the woods. I saw this one this morning and assumed it was a Morning Glory. However, my plant identification app said it is the bloom of a wild potato vine. Does anyone know? As always, Слава Україні!! Героям слава!! #StandWithUkraine

A Wondrous Sky

As I’ve said many times, one can always see amazing sunsets at my daughter’s house. I captured this wondrous sight earlier this summer. “The sky is the ultimate art gallery just above us.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson) As always, Слава Україні!! Героям слава!! #StandWithUkraine

A few blooms from my daughter’s garden

Nothing much is blooming here at the moment, so it was lovely to see such color in my daughter’s garden. Pink roses, Day Lily, Petunias, and Crape Myrtle… As always, Слава Україні!! Героям слава!! #StandWithUkraine

Adults told us that we could tie... Read More

Ukraine wishes the U.S. a happy 250th

Yesterday, on July 4, Ukraine officially wished the U.S. a happy 250th birthday with a phone call to President Trump from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, several social media posts on official Ukrainian government sites, the lighting of the Motherland monument in Kyiv in honor of the U.S., and other special exhibits. As my regular blog... Read More

A bad tumble

About ten days ago I took a bad tumble down my front porch steps. Not really sure what caused the fall, I fell down about six steps, tumbling back and forth and unsuccessfully trying to stop myself. I never lost consciousness and was aware that I had hit my head just above the right eyebrow.... Read More

Finally…

Southern Magnolias are in bloom, and most of the magnolia trees I’ve seen are covered in blooms. The huge magnolia on my property, however, has had only a smattering of blooms, and all are very high on the tree… “Our real selves, the children inside, are still innocent and shy as magnolias.” (Maya Angelou) As... Spring Festival 2026: Finale

I missed Week 10 of Dawn’s Spring Festival due to not feeling well. Nothing was blooming on my property, and I didn’t feel like driving anywhere. And now is the finale, and my hydrangeas are finally beginning to bloom. So I leave you with a gallery of hydrangea blooms. Thank you, Dawn, for hosting the... Read More
