LIFE UPDATES:

I am SLEEP DEPRIVED after this week where tornado sirens and emergency notifications woke the entire metro Nashville area up for hours on end Monday and Wednesday night.

I’ve lived in Tennessee for almost four years and have yet to experience a tornado season like this. We sheltered in place and listened to sirens for hours through the night. Luckily, no tornadoes touched down!

One interesting observation: the whole metro-Nashville area must believe Big Weather is a sham! Not a single person I know tuned into the regular Weather Channel or local news station for weather updates. We all listened to a YouTuber named NashSevereWeather livestream the storms for hours on end.

It was a joy to see the creator industry overpowering corporate media, even in weather reporting👊

UNDERREPORTED RADAR

Stories flying under the radar this week include:

•  A new report claims 113,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested and over 100,000 have been deported from the United States in the last 72 days. We also learned that illegal border crossings are down 94% since January 20th. At the end of the Biden administration, we saw an average of over 50,000 illegal border crossings into the US. As of March 2025, that number is down to just 7,000. 

• A group of Columbia University grads tore up their diplomas on campus over the past weekend to protest the school’s cooperation with the Trump administration and the feds’ detention of former student Mahmoud Khalil. 

• Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock is under fire after reports revealed he’s been living rent-free in a $1 million luxury home in Atlanta, purchased by Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he serves as senior pastor. Tax filings and real estate records show the church acquired the property in 2022 and has covered maintenance, taxes, and other costs, while Sen. Warnock resides there without paying rent. 

• Anti-Israel students are opting to self-deport as the Trump administration is cracking down on student visa holders. Cornell international student Momodou Taal announced he’s leaving the US after his student visa was revoked for his participation in anti-Israel protests. The State Dept. asked that Taal turn himself into ICE. Instead, he filed a lawsuit hoping to block the deportation of himself and other visa holders in his situation. A judge denied his request and instead of filing a second motion in court, he decided to leave the US citing fears for his safety.

• A school district is being sued because someone thinks that the Spartan mascot is a “symbol of white supremacy.” This school district in Long Island originally had a Native American mascot and following the era of woke, opted to swap the Native American mascot for a Spartan mascot. Apparently, that’s not good enough as William King Moss the 3rd, a parent and NAACP leader, claimed the mascot is offensive to women and people of color.

AMERICA’S GOODEST BOY:

While the tornado sirens disrupted Jake & I, Harper genuinely took no issue with them. He got into the bathroom and curled right back up to sleep within minutes. THAT is why he’s America’s Goodest Boy!

Over the weekend, we hung out with puppy Evie and Harper wasn’t a fan of puppy Evie stealing his mom. He had to sit on top of me just to remind me that he’s still #1.
