We’re not rushing summer, we promise. ☀️ Just giving you a little head start on what’s coming next at Type Electives.

Our Fall 2026 lineup is here! Whether you’re drawing your first alphabet, developing a typeface, or picking up a new skill like editorial design, there’s a course for every stage of your type journey.

Scholarships are available! Check out TypeElectives.com for priority deadlines.

Not quite ready to think about fall? We’ve still got one more summer course starting this Thursday, July 9: Experimental Letterforms with Kel Troughton.

Take your lettering and type design to the next level by exploring sources of inspiration beyond the traditional type and design canon. Each week, we’ll study a different lettering approach through lectures and hands-on drawing exercises, covering showcard writing, sign painting, photo typesetting, graffiti, calligraphy, and traditional type design. Students will start sketches in class and refine them as homework, blending personal style with lessons drawn from each discipline to create innovative work that spans tradition and contemporary design.

Creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future in type and design is at the core of our mission. We’re committed to making our classes more accessible by increasing opportunities for underrepresented groups within the type and design industry.

It’s our goal to provide as many scholarship seats as we can! Learn more and apply via the form on the Type Electives Scholarship Page.
