I built a 23-tab budget spreadsheet because every free template I tried fell apart by March.

Here’s the pattern I kept seeing — with my own budget and with everyone I talked to about theirs.

You start a budget spreadsheet in January. Income at the top, categories down the side, planned versus actual. It works for a month. Maybe two. Then it becomes a chore. The numbers from last month are still sitting there. Nothing carries forward. You want to check your net worth but that’s a separate file. You want to see your debt payoff progress but that’s somewhere else entirely.

So you quit. Not because budgeting doesn’t work — because maintaining disconnected tools costs more energy than it saves.

That’s why I built the Ultimate Budget Workbook. 23 tabs, 2,200+ formulas, everything connected to a single Control Panel. Enter your income once and it flows into every monthly tab, the annual summary, the bill calendar, the 50/30/20 analysis, and the dashboard. The only job left is entering what you actually spent.

I wrote a full breakdown of what a complete personal finance system needs and why most budget spreadsheets miss the point.
