It’s so hot out, baby was inspired by someone telling me they’d like to watch me do a little manual labor. It didn’t take any more than that to get the words flowing. Moonlight was a poetry tag from Damien that caught me during a rare moment of anger, so it went a little dark. I also hate myself a little for including the line ‘Cutting haters down to size’😂 I got cut again didn’t start as rap-style poetry, but it did end up as one. Midway through the poem my mood shifted sharply as well, completely changing my original direction. Words are tools came during a time when words were cutting me pretty deeply and as someone who takes great care in my use of words, I felt moved to drop a lesson. To me fucking you was a poetry tag from Antranette and was the second moon-themed on that week, hence invoking Khonsu. This must have been a rough week, because You trying to fuck with me was another poem lashing out. This was a week full of anger and the moon with a sprinkling of sweaty, sexy outdoor work. You never know what you’ll get with a Daily Verses post.
Filling the Void is the first part of a new mini-series I’m developing and I am rather pleased with how it’s been received. It was sparked by a photo of Monica Bellucci which made me think of the film Malena, so my mental image of our nameless woman is her. When I dropped it, I was concerned it wasn’t sexy enough and needed some more tension, but the feedback I got told a very different story. I’m working on part 2 now, but am hitting a bit of a wall at the end. Send some creative vibes my way!🙏
WHAT’S THIS? A Wednesday drop? A rarity indeed, but the muse hits when the muse hits, and she hit me hard on Wednesday—a piece very close to my heart for a very special person. Also my first piece completely in Spanish.
Speaking of firsts, Mi Fido di Te dropped the next day and is my first complete piece in Italian. My first language is English, but I have a burning passion for Romance languages and have been thinking about writing poetry in Italian for a while. The title and general theme were inspired by the song of the same name by Jovanotti, but the devotion and love are all me. At the end of the post I included a quote from the song that has always been meaningful to me: ‘La vertigine non è paura di cadere, ma voglia di volare.’ ‘Vertigo is not the fear of falling, but the desire to fly.’
Kate Valentine’s Friday prompts are quickly becoming therapy for me—the kind where you confront shit that scares the fuck out of you. I do not work well under pressure. Every Thursday I consider DMing her and asking for the prompt early, but I think I’m past that now.🤞 The pressure of finding the right idea and capturing that vision in under 500 words is something that has helped me immensely and, in my opinion, made me a better writer. This prompt, however, did not thrill me at first, but when the idea finally came together, I loved the idea and it was full speed ahead.
7 DAYS AND 5 DROPS! Shit, if you count this, I’ve posted something everyday this week except Monday! Am I drowning you all?
Enough about me, though. Here are some pieces I read this week that I’d like to shout out and recommend for you.
Scarlett Simmons writes poetry that knocks me on my ass every single f*cking time! I hunger for it! I wake up in the middle of the night with one of her lines ringing in my brain. She takes me apart piece by piece and by the end I’m a puddle, rendered speechless. And the layers! She never leaves me feeling just one thing. Aroused, convicted, heartbroken, seen, and always a mess. Mi Amor, I’m Aching is the epitome of this.
Mi amor,
I’m aching.
For the heat of you.
For the way your name
sits heavy on my tongue (aroused)
Your shape lives behind my eyes,
salt and shadow,
the ghost of a name
I’m not allowed to claim. (painful yearning, heartbroken)
Please, read this and come back and tell me you’re not a smoking pile of ashes.
❤️❤️❤️
The nature of the game here on Smutstack for so many of us is anonymity. We need to protect ourselves. For this reason, I know next to nothing about the genius behind Elara Rosalia, but I have an active imagination, so I often have mental profiles of certain people in my head. This is not quite the case for Elara. Every time I read something new from her, I think,’Who the hell is this person?’ Her depth of knowledge is staggering. She is either eyes deep in research or an 80 year old former CIA agent. For example, this is from the opening paragraphs of Sixteen Hours part 3:
My mum, who was from Latvia, had always said, “Elise, whenever you leave the house, look your best. A rich man will fall in love with you when you least expect it. Be ready. Marriage is misery, but misery with a diamond necklace, on a boat, in silk pajamas, is better than misery on a lumpy mattress with your father.”
My dad, an Australian, was even more pragmatic. “Never leave the house wearing shoes you wouldn’t be comfortable running a mile in if you absolutely had to.”
WTAF? Elara Rosalia, I remain in awe of you!
THIS GUY! I defy you to find me someone with a wider range of genres, not sub genres, GENRES than Chris Jackson. I adore a good fantasy piece or historical fiction, and Chris delivers with The Captured Crusader. And there are so many excellent writers here, but no one makes me fall in love with a character faster than Chris. Cadwin and Yasmina have already stolen my heart and I am chomping at the bit for more! If you are reading this and do not subscribe to Chris, please stop right now and fix that error.
Rosalie Fox | Erotica is my double shot this week, but by the gods, it could have been more! I had such anxiety choosing only two! Not only is she incredibly prolific, but every piece is a shot of pure erotic heroine. I may have said this before, but when I read or listen to Rosalie, I have that same rush I would get when I used to sneak a peak at my father’s Playboys. Training My Submissive F*ck Boy… is Foxdom (™️ 2026 - T. Vale) and I am here for it! I reread it looking for a quote to pull and could not choose just one.
I Shouldn’t Be Here But I Can’t Stop took me apart and left me in a pile of useless parts. RF is a surgeon of poetic prose that cuts you open and you thank her for it. Case in point:
‘what if she found us. what if you are the monument that buries me and I am too young to feel like dying. as you circle me. touching things that are not yours. and what if. I melt in endless ocean light for just the closeness of your secret mouth.’
By god do I love this series! One of my favorite sub genres to write and read is age gap. Now, this isn’t that, but it sure as hell feels like it… a lot! Nadia grabbed me by the throat in part 1 and I have been addicted ever since. Spicypancake does such a fucking superb job capturing everything that makes Nadia such an attractive, sexy character.
“Nickkkkyyyy! Hmph! At least let me cuddle with you!” she cried. I opened one eye and was greeted with her big puppy dog eyes and her bottom lip stretched out. So. Fucking. Adorable. God damn it.
Hey Spicy, WHEN’S PART 4?? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
The way I start to salivate whenever I see that that charcoal sage pop up in my feed would make Pavlov proud. The Siren series by persephone ✦☾ is a darkly mythic and deeply erotic masterpiece. The way she achingly paints a scene is nothing short of art. If you made a list of the events that happen in one of these stories, it would be short, but that’s not what they’re about. When Persephone says ‘slow descent’ she means it. You wouldn’t run through a museum. You’d take your time and savor. That’s The Siren. That’s Persephone.
Question. Read any good sonnets lately? No? Well, allow me suggest I’ve Died a Hundred Lives by Sapphra | Erotic Poetry. I’ll say it louder for the people in the back… IT’S A SONNET! I have been a huge Sapphra fan for a while. She probably doesn’t remember, but waaaaaaaaay back in February, I publicly asked her to be my Valentine after reading one of her poems.😂 She very politely and respectfully declined. She is one of the poets who inspired me to start writing poetry again and this absolute gem is a perfect example. She straight up just knows poetry. It would not surprise me at all if I learned she teaches it. (This is complete conjecture, btw)
‘Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May’
No, thanks, Will. I’ll have some:
‘So break me gently on your distant shore’
That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed my Week in Review. I’ll leave you with a sneak peak for next week. Also Daily Verses Vol. 12 drops tomorrow, so be sure to check it out! Alas, no new Leela this week as our Elara is getting a much deserved break, so it’s the perfect time for you to read the series that originally got me hooked on Elara’s work:
