Daily Verses Vol. 10

·

Aug 9

I started writing morning verses to both sharpen my poetry skills and be sure that I was writing something every day. I will be publishing a few of these poems per post until caught up, then I will publish the week’s verses each Sunday.

This round of Daily Verses contains two aspects of my writing that reveal who I am. The first, is that I am a self proclaimed lover boy. In my opinion, my best poetry comes when I am feeling the longing for and the warmth of love. Four out of the five poems here are genuine lover boy certified. The second is almost my love manifesto. Conditional came at a time of frustration at how and why people, including myself, show and accept love. As for me, and you can see this plainly if you read the piece, when I love… it is all in or nothing at all.

I am not going to say much about this piece other than I am deeply in love with it and it is one of the most personal things I have ever published on Substack.

OMG! F*CK THIS POEM! I’ve been writing poetry since I was maybe twelve or thirteen and NEVER have I spent so much time on a single poem! This one took me almost five long days of writing sessions to finish and if it wasn’t for the expertise of the inimitable Sapphra, I’d probably still be staring at an unfinished piece. I almost always write free verse poetry. I DO NOT like having my word choices limited by rhyme and meter, but I have been trying to up my poetry game, so THIS happened. I did my best to maintain a strict rhyme scheme and have each line of a stanza have the same number of syllables. It sucked! I hated it! But I am very proud of the final result. I’ll leave the terza rima and hendecasyllabic f*ckery to my idol, Dante.

I have LOVED writing these prompts from Kate Valentine and if I wasn’t such a loquacious, rules-hating bastard, I think I’d do flash fiction all the time. I really had fun playing with the sensory aspects of this piece and how it mirrored knowing someone so well that you notice the slightest changes.

7 DAYS AND 4 DROPS!

Enough about me, though. Here are some pieces I read this week that I’d like to shout out and recommend for you. There are A LOT of them!

Let me start by saying that I am not a huge fan of hotwife stories. There are very few writers that make me want read something that I’m not super in to. In hotwife so far that list would be Maren Vale, Claire Torquil♡, and now Spicypancake! This story cooked! I was immediately invested in these characters and Arturo made me question my sexuality. SpicyP really knows how to write a shy female character and this piece has that too. She completely burning the joint down!

Matty Macaroo is my double shot this week. She’s been Stacking for about three months and is now stepping into Smutstack with the modest swagger of someone who has been doing it much longer. The Hallelujah Chorus hits me right in my sweet spot… morning sex with a dash of humor. GIMME MORE!

Speaking of more, Matty’s piece Flash Friction, about two ‘friends’ who have ‘play wrestled’ for years, earned her the people’s choice in Kate Valentine’s Freestyle Friday Flash Fiction contest. Unfortunately she had to share it with some hack who wrote a story about fucking a translator. She packed so much tension and bottled up lust into so few words… I am in awe!

Tied Down and Used by Many was the first of two times this week where the universe slapped me in the face and said READ THIS! Kitty Mae’s story popped up at least twice every time I scrolled my feed for two days. On Friday I decided that this was too much to be a coincidence, so I dove in… and hot damn!🔥 Every time I write so much as a threesome, I break out in hives. They’re just such a challenge to not lose focus in, but Kitty nailed it! Her focus stayed right on the lucky lady and it hit hard!

I adore a good urban legend, so when I saw that Monday Cross had one near the top of her posts list, I couldn’t resist. This is such an amazing example of good storytelling and contains probably my favorite line of everything I read this week:

Just a white-trash mud genie doling out what people deserve in the windswept outpost they called home.”

Please read this gem about a small town well that gives you exactly what you deserve and give Monday Cross a sub while you’re there.

And now for cosmic slap number two. I’ll start this review the same way I started my restack after I first read this piece: F*ck you, Elara Rosalia! Sometimes when I am reading something that is THIS good, I get really angry. Not hateful anger, but just kind of like Motherf*cking shit, this is so f*cking good! Fuck that person for being so talented! I don’t understand it myself, but Elara has pushed this button in me so many times that I almost expect it now. This extended flirt session cemented for me what a MFing master of witty dialogue Elara is. Every single time I think she can’t possibly make me love her work any more than I already do, she proves me wrong.

That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed my Week in Review. I’ll leave you with a sneak peak for next week… if you enjoy a bit of taboo religious themed erotica, this may just be for you. If all goes as planned, it will be part 1 of a short 3-4 part mini-series. Also Daily Verses Vol. 11 drops tomorrow, so be sure to check it out! And if you’ve read this far, the latest episode of Leela is likely out, so get over to Elara Rosalia and dive into episode 11! Much love, my slutty subs.
