This one matters more than anything else happening today.

The USS Abraham Lincoln has been at sea for more than 240 days a record-setting uninterrupted deployment and sailors aboard are experiencing serious mental health and supply issues. Their families have been speaking out. Military advocacy groups have been raising alarms. Congressional Democrats have been demanding answers.

Trump’s response? He dismissed the concerns as fake telling reporters in the Oval Office that a retired, unnamed admiral assured him the ship is “beautifully maintained and beautifully taken care of.”

Beautifully maintained, that’s what he said. About sailors who have been away from their families for eight and a half months in an active war zone with documented mental health struggles.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore a Democrat who served in the US Army did not hold back: “It pisses me off.” He’s right to be angry. Every American should be angry about this. These are real people and real families. And the president called it fake and moved on.

When Trump was asked whether eight and a half months at sea was too long, he said it was “not nearly long enough.”

Not nearly long enough. About sailors with mental health crises. Who haven’t seen their families in 240 days.

Remember that quote. Remember who said it. Remember it in November.

This one is genuinely alarming from a national security standpoint and it’s getting nowhere near the attention it deserves.
