Lots of people got in touch to ask if the new Space Race activity could work with more than eight players.
It now can, but not in the obvious way.
As I worked on the new feature, I found that displaying more and more ships quickly became chaotic: the screen was crowded and performance lagged a little.
So I tried a different approach.
The first eight players each get their own ship. After that, players are automatically grouped into teams.
To keep things fair:
A solo player gets a boost for every correct answer
A team of three needs three correct answers for one boost
This keeps races competitive, regardless of class size.
Students answer questions on their own devices as normal whilst, on the main screen, team ships show a badge (×2, ×3, etc.) and cycle through names.
If you try it with a larger class, I’d love to hear how it goes.
Does the team balance feel fair?
Is it clear to students what’s happening?
Thanks to everybody who sent questions and feedback about this activity.
If you have any ideas for what you’d like to see next on Triptico, just reply.
I read every message.
