Embossed floral brass pedestal bowl — $25

Insanely priced sizable (10” wide) footed bowl. Run, do not walk!

Diminutive oil painting — $80

Sweetie smallie with great movement and colors.

Ceramic yellow serving bowl — $58

Where my fellow butter heads at? Love the oblong shape on this vs being a perfect circle — sometimes something long and narrow can be easier to fit onto a full table when serving.

Glossy, cinnamon brown ceramic bust — $148

Porcelain shell dish — $34

Another fun serving piece. The line work here feels illustrated in a Luke Edwards Hall kind of way to me which is what caught my eye.

Another good brass serving bowl — $51

Hilarious that the listing is describing this as patinated? I’m like…this is a POLISHED brass bowl. I assume the seller is referring to the few dings and scrapes but, mamma mia, this gal is GLEAMING. Kind of has a rose gold look to it? And I love it in this state and I would undoubtedly love it while it tarnishes and oxidizes — the shape is going to look great both ways!

Green alabaster pedestal — $135

This is the kind of piece that at first you’re like “what the hell am I doing with this?” and then it ends up being invaluable for styling. Combine that with the exceedingly unique and lovely color and patterning of green alabaster and you’ve got yourself a downright SINGULAR piece. I’d perch a candle on it, a bowl full of fake oranges (oh, it’s just me with one of those?), a floral arrangement, any of your most special bits and bobs. Do not underestimate the value of layering when it comes to creating interesting vignettes around your home and this is an excellent layering piece.

Vintage celestial lithograph — $35

I appreciate that this seller specifies that all their prints come from primary sources — meaning they’ve most often been pulled from books. I prefer the feeling of that over a modern glicee print. And the little bits of text and the torn edge from the spine is all texture that adds valuable interest (according to me😇).

Set of six red 8x10 frames — $80

Okay I shared some red frame inspo this week (because will never not immediately go “oooh!" when I see a piece of art with a red frame or a red mat), one of which was the gallery wall and here is a listing for a set of 6 red frames! You could be half way to recreating this look for a steal 👇

Shapely beefy candlesticks — $88

The name says it all — I can do no better sales pitch than that. Every room needs a hit of black they say and this could be yours.

Set of four stainless and cork coasters — $38

DO NOT waste my time with coasters that are not absorbent (or at the very least do not keep condensation from dripping directly onto the table below). They are a scourge and too many exist. Thankfully, these fit that bill and I imagine stack together very satisfactorily.

Checkered woven basket — $29

A basket that I think would make a lovely cachepot (can I use that word to describe any vessel that holds a plastic nursery plant pot inside? I hope so).

Ceramic vessel with handles — $56

Wouldn’t be a roundup if I didn’t include something that I was tempted to describe as “swirly whirly”.

Metal sunburst candle wall sconces — $48

Eye-catchers if I ever saw some.

Thrillingly, our front entryway that until recently looked like this:

The contractor we’re working with to enclose the space a bit more has gotten the walls framed and drywall hung. It already feels a lot cozier and more discrete. I have never worked with a contractor before so this feels like I am unlocking a new level of adulthood and also like I might be at the top of the slippery slope of realizing that I can just pay people to make my house look exactly how I want instead of insisting I only make the changes I am capable of executing myself. Someone hold me back!

If you love interiors but don't have formal design training, you likely know the specific chaos of just...trying things. Making a change, living with it, tweaking again, repeating. That’s the entire crux of this post: twelve iterations of my entryway, several learnings, and just one (!) purchase I actually regret.

Safe to say these changes have been a long time coming.
