It’s been a while. I feel like I should explain my absence from this newsletter but I don’t really have an explanation. I felt burnt out on the social side of Substack after two years showing up weekly. At the same time the platform itself became more like other social media (and thus a less inspiring place to show up). So here we are.
Things have been busy in the studio with mixing, recording, and production work. I’ve also been digging deeper into ambient electro-acoustic soundscapes and improvising on drums at extremely slow tempos. I plan for this newsletter to remain a place where I share my process but I don’t yet know how or when.
Meanwhile, I was recently interviewed on the podcast Producerhead. The host Toru is a Mexico City-based producer and music maker. He asks thoughtful questions and is a terrific listener. Toru learned about my work through my album Exist Everywhere and we had a great chat about music, sound, recording, creative process.
