It has been a couple months since my last regular post. We don’t play by capitalism’s rules of productivity here, so I’m not going to give in to my desire to publicly justify this much-needed silence/break/whatever. I’m mostly here tonight to share a poem I’ve been working on for a week, and two very important things.

Here is the poem, which I think speaks for itself. Content warning for suicide and general anti trans sentiment.

my trans friends in arkansas watch the texas leg session try to break us down or tear us apart but i know what revolution- aries say about burying seeds– sometimes it seems like a race to the pacific northwest sometimes i think about my race towards adulthood away from wanting to kill myself– i started this poem in arkansas on what would be my dad’s birthday had he not killed– i am finishing this poem in texas because i’m tired of this world that wants us to kill ourselves though i could never tire of the sharp smell of testosterone gel every morning on my hairier and hairier thighs but can i admit i’m scared– when will it be too costly to look like a chicano– it rains it pours it hurricanes it tornadoes it lubbock-dust-in-austin-skies and i’m in arkansas telling my trans friends my favorite pokemon games and the truth-not-taught-at-school of texas colonialism– commiseration and camaraderie over the best damn curry of my life– every day i will cherish this life
