A few years into my nursing career, my perspective on professional preparedness began to change. I wanted to make sure that those who had a role in caring for the lives of others, especially in those life or death moments, felt confident in the care they were providing, and in the preparation they received for their role.
That lead me to return to school to get a master’s degree in nursing education. Not only could I use this opportunity to support my peers, I could also teach the community, patients and families.
I was well into my program when a position became available that seemed like the perfect next step for the path I was on.
