I got WireGuard working on Opnsense for the second time. I am afraid I will never figure out how to reproduce it!

For the sake of anyone who might read this blog post in the distant future (a month from now, say), let me mention that I am writing it a few days after OpenAI announced that it had solved ten major problems in mathematics and theoretical computer science, including the first construction of a non-sofic group, \[ \]

Last September I went to a workshop at the Lorentz Centre in Leiden to discuss mathematics and AI with historians, philosophers, computer scientists, AI researchers, and mathematicians of several different flavours (though there was a surprising preponderance of algebraic geometers). The whole event was extremely stimulating, with some talks but also a lot of time \[ \]

I am experimenting with having Opencode edit Opencode’s settings to build coding agents, juggle models efficiently, and so on. It’s pretty fascinating what it comes up with.

Just noodling around tonight. I am having Opencode write Nushell scripts for me to automate some of my basis file operations: unzipping, zipping, and transcoding. It is surprisingly capable. I think I like Nushell better than Python for these tasks now.

We lost power last night due to a thunderstorm. We still don’t have power today, but are running on a generator. We are comfortable but I wonder how much it is costing us in natural gas. At 95 degrees F outside, though, we don’t have much of a choice.

I saw Supergirl today with my family. While I liked it, it was not the movie I expected. It was grim and very, very dark. I liked the story after a while, but it was a bad idea to bring my nine-year-old son to it. He hated it.
