Hood Ski Bowl. There is a vault toilet at the trailhead that is open year-round. The trail starts out level for the first half mile and slowly starts the uphill climb to the lake. It's a great 3–4-mile loop for hiking, running, or snowshoes. It's about 13 miles round trip or just do a simple out and back if you don't need the miles. It's a beautiful lake trail used by a lot of runners and mountain bikers. There are many great campsites with vault toilets right off the trail as well. I'd love to bring the Kayaks over some time as well. Look for the Salmon River Road on the right, just before Lolo Pass Road on the left when headed up to Mt. You can get there from either the Gorge (Hood River area) or highway 26. I think it's faster from the Gorge side and Lolo pass road is closed in the winter months. We've been there many times and it seems like it always great weather.
