As a chap who was born and bred in jolly old England (and fed on a steady diet of football) I wish I had not planned to send you a World Cup post today—but I’m a pro so I will battle through my heartbreak!

From my 2018 World Cup Yearbook for the New Yorker. Leo Messi had just turned thirty and people said he’d missed his chance for FIFA glory. People do say some silly things.
Technically this was a Paris Olympics cartoon but it’s very World Cuppy so I’m tucking it into this post. New Yorker, 2024.
