As you probably have noticed, there has been a brief pause in postings of TJ’s Substack and my INSIGHT programming. Every now and then, life intervenes, and I have most recently found myself subject to one of those interventions.
I suffered an accident a few weeks ago, which left me with three (of my five) lumbar vertebrae fractured. While I would not wish the accompanying pain on my worst enemy, it goes with the injury. Luckily, it led to the discovery of another issue that might have had far worse consequences had it not been discovered. In effect, the back injury saved my life.
The reason I am sharing this detail is twofold:
I sincerely want to thank you for your “patience” for the “patient” (me). I shall be returning to posting articles on TJ’s Substack and ramping up interviews and podcasts on INSIGHT as well.
As an EARLY WARNING, I have always endeavored to provide a balanced, relatively non-opinionated, independent perspective on our nation’s issues to create a more informed electorate. However, party polarization has shifted a substantive percentage of the parties’ more extreme loyalists to the point that I am no longer comfortable treating it as if it’s not what some might rightfully call “a threat to democracy.” As a result, you may expect my criticism of extremist positions and the “virtue signaling” that’s become a superficial justification for those positions to become more direct. I may not go full “Joe Rogan” with respect to the language I use but brace yourself for a more direct examination of the abhorrent behavioral patterns and positions that have overwhelmed our political environment.
Once again, thank you for your patience during the momentary “pause” that “life” forced upon me. I promise to make it up to you from this point forward.
In that regard, please help “spread the word” about this Substack among those with whom you agree and disagree politically. They may agree or disagree with me as well and are encouraged to comment either way on anything I post (as are you). My only goal is to stimulate thoughtful and civil discussions about our nation’s most critical issues rather than settling for either party’s self-serving talking points. If you know people who can form their own opinions and appreciate the nuances witjin the arguments of others, please encourage them to join our community. For less than the cost of a small Starbuck’s latte, your family, friends, associates, and maybe even those you disagree with can join in the discussion. That is the only way we can begin to heal the political fractures of our country… and I have a personal appreciation for how important healing fractures can be.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Have a blessed day!
