Uni-T UT120C Mini Multimeter

A delightfully compact multimeter that does everything you'd expect one to do. For me that's continuity, AC/DC voltage, and occasionally resistance. It doesn't have a backlight, but it does have a proper beeper for continutity checking! The probes don't detach - I might print some kind of clip/pointy end cap thing at some point as it's easy to poke yourself when rummaging for it in a tiny toolkit.…

Recantha's Tiny Toolkit

A general purpose kit used for various purposes including a fair amount of stationery bits to help with design. Case Lihit Lab Large Maroon Camo Book-Type Pen Case , LL00005-MC Contents Exterior The exterior of the case has some pockets, so I've added some sticky notes. 500 thin sticky notes or markers: Layer 1 - Multitool, scissors and penknife My first layer is dominated by a fold-up multitool…

Matt Gray's Soldering Kit

I was somewhere without tools and needed to solder, so ordered some bits next day and used that as an excuse to make a mini soldering kit. Case Excellent Elite Spanker IFAK Outdoor Tactical Accessories Bag Apparently the keyword I needed for a case this size was IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit). I bought this one purely because of the brand name. The internal mesh pocket has a really odd velcro…

Wera 838 RA S Ratchet Screwdriver

I found that I was frequently picking up my full size ratchet screwdriver and taking it along with my tiny tool kit, a clue that there was a gap in my tool kit. So I added the smallest and sweetest ratchet screwdriver I could find, the Wera 838 RA S . It has a very smooth ratchet mechanism and a neat trick where you can turn the ratchet with your fingers to micro adjust a screw. Will Roberson on…

Openterface Mini-KVM

The Openterface Mini-KVM is an open source gadget that turns your laptop into a virtual KVM (Keyboard Video and Mouse) for any other HDMI and USB device. If you find yourself frequently debugging or setting up SBCs, servers and the like then I think you'll find this very appealing. A photo of the device in use. The target is connected via USB and HDMI, and the host via USB. In datacenters etc…

Jigsaw Handle

I wanted a tiny saw. I already had jigsaw blades to cut many things, and they are pleasingly small, so I really just needed a tiny handle. I thought I'd be able to buy one but apparently nobody makes such a thing. But, in my search I came across this idea from a Reddit user , using a spare part from a Bosch jigsaw and a long bolt. I bought the part (1619P12765) online, and covered it in glue-lined…

Alientek DP100 PSU

A tiny bench PSU with USB-C input for power - it'll run off the same USB-C supply as my Pinecil soldering iron . I got this from AliExpress for about 40 quid. Comes in this nice but huge case: I will probably use it most with these Wago 215-211 4mm wire clamp terminals

Knipex CoBolt tiny bolt cutters

These have a lot of cutting power for their size, up to 3.6mm piano wire, and for softer stuff they'll cut anything you can fit in their jaws. They come in a dizzying variety of models - mine are the 71 21 200, with an angled head for flushier cutting and 200mm handles, but there are variants with shorter and longer handles and with straight heads.

Jarkman's Zyklop Kit

This started life as a Wera Kraftform Kompakt Zyklop Speed, 26 pieces, 05051045001 but I've added a few bits. It does the job of a very nice 1/4" square-drive ratchet and a decent screwdriver. I like these 50mm long bits as a compromise between compactness and being able to reach down holes. This is the set I usually grab when going off to do anything with screws & nuts & bolts, because it covers…

Wiha 26-in-one screwdriver

All the bits in one screwdriver! There's room for Pozi, Phillips, Allen, Torx, and slot. Wiha sell this with various selections of bits but none of the selections are ideal, so you might end up mix-and-matching with some of the refill packs. It is also labelled differently in the EU and the USA. In UK it was labelled as a Wiha LiftUp 26one 43895 The only place I could find to buy the refill packs…

Jarkman's Robot Fixing Toolkit

An ever-growing little toolkit to take along when robots might need fixing. Mostly focused on small mechanical and electronic work. It weights too much (2kg) and is at the limits of what this case can hold. Maybe I need to rationalise it a bit. Case Lihit Lab Book-Type Pen Case Large, LL00005 Contents Layer 1 Wera Kraftform Micro drivers, hex and ball hex, straight, Phillips/JIS Wera 5.5mm nut…

Atuman R1 Ratchet Wrench Screwdriver

Update: Not recommended - see below. The Duka Atuman R1 Ratchet Wrench Screwdriver set is compact and with it's aluminium body, it's lightweight too. It gives a huge amount of functionality in one package, replacing; Ratchet, screwdriver, stubby screwdriver and allen keys. It costs just £12 from Aliexpress. The trade offs I am balancing, it will not be as durable as some more expensive…

ANENG A3008 Multimeter

Is it a great tool? No! It costs just £12 from Aliexpress, it looks like a toy and it feels like a toy. Is it ultra portable? Hell Yes! This tiny multimeter is a featherweight 80g. Is it good enough to earn a place in my tiny toolkit? Yes. This multimeter is accurate enough and is often enough of a tool to help fix products and debug Arduino projects in the field. The tool at hand is more useful…

Facom R.180PB 180° flexible head 1/4" compact ratchet

This thing does many different screwdriver things, while remaining very compact. I think it may be the tiniest way to be able to drive full-size bits. I printed a TPU clip to keep the two parts together, and a TPU bit holder Some similar ratchets are available in the bike tool market and as hex or Leatherman accessories from 711L

Surgimax 16cm tough cut scissors

iFixit Mako Compact Kit

The iFixit Mako is an excellent quality set of precision screwdrivers with 64 4mm bits in a box. Mine lives on my desk and gets used almost every day. For a portable tiny tool kit, I needed something ultra compact. So I kept the Mako driver and the 35 bits I use all the time. The bits are stored in 2 custom 3d printed TPU holders . The remaining 29 bits, which are only rarely used, have been…

Pinecil soldering iron

The mighty Pinecil A great cheap tiny soldering iron. It'll run off USB-C (if it can give it 20V) or from DC into a barrel jack. In a custom 3d printed case by Drew Batchelor With a nice bendy silicone USC-C cable And a UGREEN CD216 GaN charger, which can do the 20V 3A that will keep the Pinecil…

Jarkman's Flexure Kit

I made this for a Makevember, when I tried to make one example flexure from 'Handbook of Compliant Mechanisms' every day, out of card and tape. So, I needed the tools to make quite complex and intricate little cardboard constructions, and I needed to be able to carry it around with me for speedy lunchbreak makes. Case A plastic business-card case. Maybe from eBay ? Contents Washi tape - thin,…

Jarkman's Soldering Toolkit

The basics for in-the-field soldering, in as small a kit as I can manage. Case A transparent pencilcase thingy. Most easily found on eBay, look for 'PVC mesh pencil case'. Tiny pens & pencils

Zebra TS3 mechanical pencil A tiny but decent little mechanical pencil. I've taken the clip off this one. Other tiny pens & pencils that are worth a look: Pilot Birdie pencil - seems hard to find in Europe? Pilot Birdie Twin - a tiny pen and pencil in one package, this is really a remarkable thing. OHTO Minimo pen - even thinner, I don't find it easy to write with OHTO Minimo pencil - ditto…
