When pursuing the truth, the line between fact and speculation can often feel like a tightrope. Substantiated rumors—those whispers that emerge from multiple reliable sources but lack official confirmation—pose a unique challenge. They may not yet be verifiable, but when the same story surfaces from different corners, the weight of consistency demands attention.
Navigating these gray areas is tricky. Put too much faith in hearsay and you risk fueling misinformation; stay silent, and you might miss the story that shapes public perception. Context is key. When rumors repeat, they must be acknowledged—not as definitive truths, but as contributing pieces of the puzzle that compliment a larger narrative.
Let’s dive in.
Vice President Kamala Harris believes that Trump won the election because of election fraud. At least, that’s what two different people report having been told by multiple unnamed Democratic party insiders.
Can we believe them?
Robert Lindsay writes the “Beyond Highbrow” Substack. He claims to be a published author, a well-known blogger with 17 million visitors over ten years, and a founder of the “Alternative Left” political movement.
In a post published yesterday, he says the following:
There is a rumor that Kamala Harris now believes that the Republicans engaged in electoral fraud in this election via hacking the voting machines. […] What I am hearing from my sources though is that Harris is only saying the Republicans hacked voting machines in the election. She’s not saying whether the election was actually stolen.
This morning, Lindsay edited his post to add additional context. In the original version, he said that he had been approached by multiple insiders with the same rumor, one of whom is a high-level Democrat in Harris’ home state of California. That same text has now been deleted.
I had only ever heard of him in passing before yesterday, so I can’t offer an informed judgment on the credibility of Lindsay’s claim. However, what I can find about him seems mired in controversy.
Lindsay currently has 510 subscribers on Substack, but he previously hosted a blog on WordPress. There, he covered a wide range of topics including politics, true crime, and culture. Lindsay gained attention for making provocative and polarizing statements, particularly on issues of race and gender. He was especially active in a community of true crime internet sleuths investigating the gruesome Delphi murders.

Donald Trump didn’t just steal the election, he stole America’s future. And it will stay that way unless we do something about it.
His blog was eventually suspended in October 2018 by the WordPress publishing platform for violating their Terms of Service, which he reportedly said was because some of his “anti-feminist posts went too far.”
I can believe it, because he’s continuing to post questionable content on his Substack.
Now, none of this necessarily means that Lindsay is lying. He could very well be a controversial figure and yet still have connections to high ranking Democrats. But personally speaking, I wouldn’t believe anything he said unless it was corroborated by someone more credible.
In the past month, I’ve written regularly about Steven Spoonamore. A cybersecurity professional and election security expert, Spoonamore has been one of the loudest and most credible voices raising the alarm about the possibility of voter fraud in the 2024 presidential election.
In Spoonamore’s post published today, he said:
In the last several days I have had multiple insiders tell me Kamala herself even thinks something is wrong with the results.
Coming from him, this is a bombshell. And it fits with a story he told last month.
On November 17, Spoonamore reported having heard from three individuals “close to Ms. Harris,” none of whom believed the Vice President would pursue a recount. He added that one of these three was “floridly livid.” Anger seems like an odd way to react to someone whose intention is to protect the integrity of an election. Or it would be, unless Spoonamore risked an ongoing investigation by being vocal. That response suggests the Harris/Walz campaign already knew about the hack, and wanted to keep it quiet.
While it’s true that Spoonamore made, and then retracted, an assertion about “Bullet Ballots” that was disproven, I have seen nothing from him that would cause me to question his integrity. He simply rushed to an early conclusion that was only later found false when we gained access to more, better data. Since then, he’s partnered with SMART Elections, a reputable, non-partisan voter rights activist organization, to analyze the election results and identify anomalies in the data.
To volunteer for SMART Elections, you have to go through a vetting process. They don’t work alongside anyone they don’t trust, and wouldn’t partner with Spoonamore if he was a crank.
Taken alone, I wouldn’t believe this rumor if I had only heard it from Robert Lindsay. However, when corroborated by what Spoonamore has heard, it paints a much stronger picture. It seems that Harris herself, and those at highest levels of the Democratic Party, indeed do also suspect election fraud occurred.
That leads us to ask a different question—what will they do about it?
More soon.
If we don’t take action to defend democracy, we don’t deserve to keep it.
