For the feminine teachers who are showing me the way.
And the reconciliation that is patiently waiting for us.
As the work of regeneration isn’t just ecological. It’s spiritual.
High in the mountains of southern France,
There’s a secret limestone womb
Carved by 251 million years of erosion.
Mary Magdalene lived here
The last thirty years of her life.
Praying. Holding.
Becoming a vessel
For what the world rejected.
Resisting the erosion
Of the divine feminine.
Patiently waiting for the integration
Of the masculine and feminine.
As the path to wholeness.
“When male and female combine,
all things achieve harmony.”
We asked the spirits of the forest
For permission to enter,
And climbed down in silence.
We performed a ritual we hadn’t planned:
A rose. Incense. Cacao. Pine cones. Prayer. Song.
Offerings to the one who witnessed when others fled.
Offerings to the one who loved through doubt.
Offerings to the sacred feminine that holds everything.
In the dark void,
We received a transmission:
The wound between the divine feminine and masculine
Is still fragmenting our world.
“A tradition with only the blade, only the penetrating, conquering, converting energy, will inevitably become violent. It has no internal principle of attunement, no capacity to ask whether its action is in right relationship with the whole.”
For 1,400 years they called her a prostitute.
Pope Gregory’s lie in 591 CE.
An act of harlotization or whore-ification—
Reducing women to their sexuality
To bury their power.
A narrative sidelining wise women for centuries
Who threatened male authority.
A conflict between the hierarchical Petrine doctrine
And mystical Magdalene Christianity
That still echoes today.
The Eastern Orthodox Church never accepted it.
They called her Isapóstolos —
Equal to the Apostles.
Others continue to call her Apostola Apostoloru —
Apostle to the Apostles.
The mystic Gnostic Gospels
Buried in Egyptian sand until 1945,
Reveal her true nature.
When the disciples wept, paralysed by fear,
“Mary rose and turned their hearts to the Good”.
She was not the penitent.
She was the one who truly understood
Jesus’s nondualistic teachings.
The Spiritual Venus.
A refraction of the same light
As Sophia and Isis.
“The Gnostic term is Christos Sophia: the union of Christ (the active, penetrating principle) and Sophia (the receptive, relational principle). Neither alone is complete.”
The Gnostics called it syzygy — divine pairing.
Depth and Silence.
Mind and Truth.
Word and Life.
When masculine and feminine
Operate in harmony,
Creation flows.
When separated,
Darkness follows.
Mary was the Sophia to his Logos.
The form to his essence.
The receptive ground
where divine wisdom grows.
Not romantic union—
The healing of the original wound.
Towards one circuit of love, consciousness, and life force.
“Know the male,
but keep to the female:
receive the world in your arms.”
This is not about being a man or a woman.
This is about energetic balance.
The Tao teaches:
all things carry yin and embrace yang.
Hildegard called it viriditas—
the greening power of life flowing through all creation,
masculine and feminine intertwined.
Meister Eckhart taught the soul’s essence is feminine—
receptive, a “silent middle” where divinity speaks itself into being.
Julian of Norwich saw Christ as Mother,
Nursing us from his own body.
Richard Rohr calls it the Divine Dance—
Trinity as flowing relationship,
Not static hierarchy.
God and Christ beyond gender.
All humans as a blend
Of masculine and feminine.
The mystics knew: these energies live in everyone.
The wound isn’t between men and women.
It’s between the masculine and feminine within us.
“The soul is kissed by God in its innermost regions”
—Hildegard
We’ve built a hyper-masculine world—
Dominated by control. Extraction. Separation. Conquest.
The wound between the masculine and feminine
Isn’t just “out there” in the world.
The wound lives in me—
In my nervous system.
In the ways I override intuition with logic.
Push through rather than receive.
Abstract rather than embody.
Do rather than be.
This pilgrimage reveals
My feminine responsibility as a man.
Not to become less masculine.
To reclaim what masculine energy was meant to be—
Presence, protection, and holding space for what wants to be born.
From domination to devotion.
From linear progress to cycles.
From transaction to relationship.
The feminine teachers in my life—
mother, partners, friends, colleagues,
the land and waters herself—
have been showing me for years.
I’m only now beginning to hear.
We can’t heal Earth without healing the sacred feminine.
“Yin Prevails over Yang,
Through being Calm,
Being Gentle,
Through not seeking Domination.”
My work now
As a man and a human being
is to keep descending
into the dark womb
of the feminine divine.
Into sensitivity.
Into receptivity.
Into the silence
where something wiser than me is trying to speak.
So I listen before I speak
Stop and feel before I act.
To heal the split
that was never really there.
To become a channel
clear enough for love to move through.
Until regeneration becomes not just restoration—but sacred reunion.
“When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one... then you will enter the Kingdom.”
— The Gospel of Thomas, Logion 22
With gratitude to my beloved fellow pilgrims slow is sacred, Luke Earthwalker and August Aalstad who keep showing me the way towards peace and harmony on our World Peace Pilgrimage.
With gratitude to Eve for guiding us into the cave. And to Benjamin Life, whose essay The Christ Meme illuminated much of what the cave was teaching.
The Pilgrimage of Life continues…
