Thrill Jockey's August Bandcamp Friday EXCLUSIVES!

August 7th is the first Bandcamp Friday since May and we’ve got THREE NEW EXCLUSIVES for you! Keep your eyes on Bandcamp to grab them earlier than anyone else while giving more to the artists you love directly, as Bandcamp relinquishes their usual slice of the pie back to the musicians that make it happen.

Two drummers, three vocalists, stuttering trance and power electronics, and a suffocating miasma of guitar. They toured together in 2024 and played some AWESOME sets before hitting the studio to record WHOLE WIDE WORLD. For sale on Friday on smoky vinyl and CD formats, with incredibly fine-detailed cover art designed by Jackie Althouse aka @white.noise.witch with additional jacket design and layout by Lee Buford and Daniel Castrejón.

Brand new music from The Body, bending genres with a new collaborator — ‘nuff said.

Mari Rubio is a genius of fantastic and thought-provoking arrangements and compositions. Always looking toward reinvention and breaking new ground, Mari has graced us with a new album valley and structure that will be available in super limited edition on CD only. This won’t be widely available to all of our usual worldwide distributors for stocking store shelves - we want to send them direct to you!

Songs were composed, performed, and produced by Mari Rubio and feature additional instrumentation by Wendy Eisenberg, Jade Guterman, Conner Simmons, Nora Stanley, and Sammy Weissberg on piano, acoustic guitar, sax, clarinet, and more.

We printed a small run of booklets with scores and arrangements to include in limited numbers as well at no extra charge to you… you just gotta get it before it’s gone.

These scores are an awesome peek at how Mari approached writing and recording these new songs, and they’re printed and bound on a lovely natural composer’s paper for a very sophisticated feel.

Jaime Fennelly let us in on this track last week, saying that it came from the same Drop of Sun studio sessions in Asheville that produced Setting’s glorious headtrip of a full-length album. Described as something that felt like it wanted to stand on its own outside the sequencing of the album, this track certainly pulls us into its gravitational field with HEAVY strokes of bass drum and celestial synths.

Thrill Jockey’s not involved with this one — we’re just loving fans.
