Hard to Swallow.

These little aviators are hard to capture in a pic, but it’s fun to try. It was a warm day, near the iron bridge over Deep Creek. These violet-green swallows like to skim just above the surface of the Spokane River, hunting insects.

Hiking Under the Gandalf Trees

The forest on the southern slope of Mt. Spokane is draped in lichen. With a nudge from the imagination, these numerous, peaked spruce and larch, covered in green and gray, resemble an army of Gandalfs, tipping their hats, puffing on pipes and even watching for orcs. Enjoy.

Hiding Heron

Much like a toddler covering their own eyes to hide, this handsome Great Blue Heron appears to feel secure in his camoflage.
