- Shortly before the Senate left for its August recess, Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the Clarity Act. The Senate is set to vote on the motion on September 15, the day after the body returns. Cloture, which requires 60 votes to pass, would force a vote on the bill. Link.

- Bitcoin fell below $63,000 as momentum behind the Clarity Act crypto legislation faded, and disappointing earnings from Coinbase and Strategy led investors to pull back from the asset. Link.

- Brazil’s central bank will require crypto firms to wait 24 hours to transfer more than $10,000 to self-custody wallets, as a precautionary measure against fraud. Link.

- Cloudflare is rolling out programmable wallets for AI agents that will let users fund stablecoin wallets and authorize agents to pay for APIs, data and online content using the x402 micropayments standard. Link. Blog.

- Wells Fargo plans to launch tokenized deposits for cross-border payments to corporate and commercial clients this fall. Link.

- POAP, proof of attendance protocol, is shutting down after more than five years and 7.6 million POAP NFTs minted over 46,210 issuers. Link.

- US spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs saw $1.1 billion of inflows, their best week since mid-April. Bitcoin inflows were tied to the Coldcard wallet exploit, as many holders moved assets from cold storage to the ETFs. Link.

- A small group of Bitcoin nodes supporting the BIP-110 proposal forked from the main network for two blocks, after which support for the forked chain died. BIP-110 is a one-year change that limits non-financial data on the Bitcoin blockchain in an effort to reduce fees on the network. Link.

- The US Treasury Department blacklisted 2 Iranian crypto exchanges that Iranians had used to evade sanctions, including one that had processed at least $4 billion through Iranian gambling websites. Link. Link. Link.

- Coinbase’s Base app will become less closely tied to its namesake blockchain as it shifts focus to building an all-encompassing trading platform. Link.

- Deposits into tokenized RWAs across DeFi platforms and DEX’s tripled y-o-y to $7.4 billion, despite a 15% contraction in total DeFi deposits. Link. Report.

- Mastercard is piloting a Crypto Credential framework for cross-border stablecoin payment flows. Link.

- Bitcoin onchain activity climbed to its highest level of 2026 likely due to heightened concerns about the security of hardware wallets, after the $100 million exploit of ColdCart wallets. Link.

- The founder of the open-source ElizaOS AI agent framework announced that the associated token is “dead” and that the related foundation is winding down, after the project settled a federal class action lawsuit. Link. Tweet.

- Ethereum researchers proposed a draft EIP that would burn an increasing share of validator rewards as more ETH is staked. At roughly 50% of ETH staked, near current levels, staking rewards would fall to zero. The goal is to reduce ETH inflation and discourage excessive staking. Link. EIP-8363.

- DEX spot volume has risen to a new all-time high of 24% market share, following a decline of CEX volume to a new 12-month low. Link.
